What it is
moomoo Prediction Markets puts Kalshi's event contracts inside the moomoo brokerage app, beside the stocks, options, futures and crypto the same customer already trades there. As with every broker in this category, moomoo is not the exchange. Its help centre says "Moomoo US currently supports Prediction markets on the Kalshi Exchange", its product page says moomoo "partners with Kalshi, a CFTC-regulated exchange", and the release announcing the partnership describes exchange-listed contracts traded through Kalshi as a CFTC-regulated exchange.
The entity you deal with is Moomoo Financial Inc., which every disclosure names as the offeror: "Event contracts are offered by Moomoo Financial Inc., an FCM registered with the CFTC." The same company is the FINRA and SIPC member that holds moomoo customers' securities. The app itself is published by Moomoo Technologies Inc., and moomoo describes itself as a brand of Futu Holdings, which is listed on Nasdaq and headquartered in Hong Kong.
The product is a permission on an existing account rather than an account of its own: you enable Prediction Markets under Trading Permissions in the app, and contracts are bought with the buying power of your moomoo margin account. The release announcing the launch is undated on the page we read, so this card gives no launch date.
Availability
US only, from a margin account, with a state list moomoo does not publish.
- The US entity only. Event contracts are offered by Moomoo Financial Inc., moomoo's US broker, and the OpenAPI documentation marks event-contract trading as available for Moomoo US accounts and for none of moomoo's other entities (Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, Canada, Japan) or Futu's Hong Kong one. Opening the brokerage account underneath is ordinary US broker onboarding, which is where the identity check happens.
- A margin account, not a cash account. The help centre is explicit that cash accounts do not support event contract trading: you open a margin account and fund it, or move money across from your cash account. There is no separate prediction-market account or deposit.
- Politics and sports by eligible state only. The category list marks those two with an asterisk: "Election and sports contracts are only available for trading in eligible US states." Which states those are is not on any page we read, and every page carries the general line that not all contracts are available in all US states. The app is where you find out.
Kalshi's own state-by-state position applies on top, through the exchange: whatever Kalshi cannot offer in a state, a broker in front of it cannot route there either. Read 2026-10-23.
Pricing
One cent a contract each way today; two cents once the introductory period ends. The Fee Schedule for U.S. Residents, updated on 1 October 2026, lists for prediction markets:
- commission — "$0.00 (During introductory period)", with the note that no commission is charged "during the initial launch period" and that Moomoo Financial Inc. "reserves the right to introduce commissions with prior notice"; and "$0.01 per side per contract (Outside introductory period)";
- exchange fee — "$0.01 per contract, per side", charged per contract and passed through;
- clearing and settlement — $0.00.
Fees are charged on the buy and on the sell, so holding to settlement pays once and closing early pays twice. Quantities are rounded up to the nearest whole contract for the fee. moomoo's own payout examples use fractional quantities such as 1.25 and 0.07 contracts, and on 0.07 contracts the rounding means the full cent is charged on a position costing a few cents.
Combos are one contract for the fee. The schedule says a combo "is treated as one contract for fee purposes … regardless of how many legs it contains", so a four-leg combo pays the same cent as a single contract.
Why both fee fields read 1, and when they become 2. The fields hold what an account pays now: no commission plus the one-cent exchange fee, 1% of the $1 payout at a price of 50 cents. moomoo publishes no maker-taker split, so a resting order pays the same as one that takes. This follows the rule of quoting the entry rate a new account pays; the catalogue's rule for one fee field with several rates covers rates that differ by market or by route, not a promotion, and moomoo has one route. The introductory period has no end date, and when it ends the commission adds a cent per side and the fields become 2, the same as Webull and tastytrade.
Against an account at Kalshi itself, whose taker fee peaks at 1.75 cents a contract at 50 cents and falls towards the edges, and whose card records no maker fee, the flat cent is cheaper for a taker in the middle of the price range, dearer near the extremes, and a cent more for an order that rests. moomoo's schedule prints Kalshi's exchange fee as a flat $0.01 rather than as Kalshi's published formula, and does not explain the difference.
Money movement is account-wide, not specific to event contracts: ACH transfers are free, a returned ACH costs $5 or $10, and outgoing wires cost $20 domestic and $25 international. moomoo adds that funding and withdrawal fees set by third parties may apply.
Markets & resolution
moomoo carries Kalshi's categories: climate and weather, commodities, companies, crypto, economics, education, elections, entertainment, exotics, financials, health, mentions, politics, science and technology, social, sports, transportation and world. Its product page on 23 October 2026 led with 15-minute contracts on Bitcoin, gold, Ether, WTI oil, XRP and Solana by 24-hour volume, followed by baseball and tennis matches.
moomoo resolves nothing. Each contract settles under Kalshi's rules against the source Kalshi names; the payout article says that in rare cases — an event cancelled, no official outcome, or an outcome of "None" — the exchange may settle at another price, and that "all final settlements are determined by the exchange". A combo pays only if every leg goes your way, at the product of the legs' settlement prices.
Payouts usually arrive within about three hours of the official result and can be traded again at once; the cash moves to the brokerage side in one business day. Orders are limit orders only, with Day, good-til-cancelled (cancelled after 90 days), good-til-date and immediate-or-cancel. Trading runs around the clock, except Thursdays from 3:00 to 5:00 AM ET for Kalshi's maintenance.
Integrations
Event contracts are in moomoo's OpenAPI. Its documentation lists "Prediction Market — Event Contract" among the products with quotes for moomoo users and with live trading for Moomoo US accounts, with no paper trading for them. The API runs through moomoo's OpenD gateway, with SDKs in Python, Java, C#, C++ and JavaScript; real-time data is pushed by subscription through the gateway. This card does not set the WebSocket flag, because the documentation we read describes a gateway protocol rather than a public WebSocket feed.
moomoo also markets "API Skills" for connecting an AI agent of your own to the account; its page did not render here, and nothing we read says whether it reaches event contracts, so the MCP flag is off.
Limitations
- A margin account is required. Cash-account customers have to open one and move money across.
- No state list. Politics and sports are limited to "eligible US states" that moomoo does not name.
- The low price has no end date. The introductory zero commission can be ended with prior notice, which doubles the per-contract cost.
- Limit orders only, and the fee is rounded up to a whole contract on fractional quantities.
- Single route. Kalshi is the only exchange, so there is no ForecastEx or other book to fall back on.
- Nobody here has funded an account. Everything above is read from moomoo's prediction-markets pages, its fee schedule, its help-centre articles on prediction markets, its partnership release and its OpenAPI documentation, on 23 October 2026.
Alternatives
Kalshi direct has the same contracts, the full market list and its own API. Webull, Robinhood and tastytrade are the other brokerage apps in front of Kalshi; the Kalshi-through-a-broker head-to-head sets their fee layers side by side.

Background
How this part of the sector works, rather than which product to pick.
- Event contract or swap, and why the label decides the case — Whether an event contract is a swap under the Commodity Exchange Act decides whether a state may regulate it. Three circuits have read it, and they divide.
- How a venue changes its rules, and where you can see it coming — A US exchange's rule changes wait ten business days in public; a fee under a dollar a contract need not. Broker fees and offshore terms change when posted.
- How much one account may hold, and what happens past the line — Position limits and accountability levels sound alike and work differently. Where each venue draws the line, in which unit, and what happens past it.

FAQ
Which exchange are moomoo's event contracts on?
Kalshi. moomoo's help centre says moomoo US currently supports prediction markets on the Kalshi exchange, and its category list names Kalshi as the only exchange. Moomoo Financial Inc. is the futures commission merchant in front of it.
What does a moomoo event contract cost?
For now, $0.01 a contract each way. The fee schedule of 1 October 2026 charges no commission during an introductory period with no end date, and passes through an exchange fee of $0.01 per contract per side. After the introductory period the commission becomes $0.01 per side, for $0.02 a contract each way.
Do I need a margin account?
Yes. moomoo's help centre says cash accounts do not support event contract trading; contracts are bought from a margin account's buying power after the Prediction Markets permission is enabled in the app. Contracts are paid for in full, and a margin account with more than $2,000 of net assets can also draw on securities margin buying power.
Can I trade sports and election contracts on moomoo?
Only from eligible US states. moomoo's category list marks the politics and sports categories with a note that election and sports contracts are available only in eligible states, but publishes no list of which states those are. Other categories carry the general warning that not all contracts are available in all states.
Can I place event contract orders through moomoo's API?
moomoo's OpenAPI documentation lists event contracts among the products with quotes for moomoo users and with live trading for Moomoo US accounts, and no paper trading. The API runs through moomoo's OpenD gateway, with SDKs in Python and other languages.
