## What it is

A two-line embed: a `<div>` with a class and a `data-mode` attribute, followed by a `<script>` tag
loading `widget.js` from PredictWidget's own domain. The script calls PredictWidget's API and
renders one of two cards into the div.

- **Featured** — a single event with up to ten outcomes, each on a probability bar. The event is
whichever one PredictWidget's `/events/featured` endpoint returns. On 30 September 2026 that was
  Presidential Election Winner 2028.
- **List** — between one and ten events, each showing its title, image and leading outcome with a
percentage, from the `/events/top` endpoint. The site's own documentation says these are "the
most active prediction markets by 24-hour trading volume".

Every card links each market to its Polymarket event page and carries a "PREDICTWIDGET • LIVE
ODDS" line linking to PredictWidget's site. That is the whole product. No account, no key, no
dashboard, and nothing to configure beyond the attributes above. The site says it runs on
Cloudflare's network.

The widget carries its own styling (neutral colours, the system font stack, no dark variant) and
exposes no theme setting. The FAQ answers the question "can I customize the appearance?" by saying it is designed to
blend in.

## Availability

Anyone can paste it, and there is no signup to be refused. `api.predictwidget.com` answered
normally on 30 September 2026. Prices and images come through PredictWidget's API and an Amazon S3
bucket rather than from Polymarket's domain, so the widget loads from its own hosts.

The widget is indifferent to whether your readers can act on what it shows. Every
link goes to `polymarket.com`, the international platform. Its terms bar trading from the United
States, the United Kingdom and more than thirty other countries, as set out on the
[Polymarket](https://predictionmarkets.tools/tools/polymarket) card. The terms of service say the service is not intended for
anyone under 18, and they make the publisher responsible for complying with local law.

## Pricing

Free. The FAQ says so twice and explains why: "We earn affiliate commissions when users click
through to Polymarket from our widgets." The terms carry a matching affiliate disclosure (section
12).

The code does not bear that out, and the gap matters to a publisher. In the `widget.js` served on
30 September 2026, every market link is a bare `polymarket.com/event/<slug>` URL with no referral
parameter. So whatever arrangement PredictWidget has with Polymarket is not visible in the markup
on your page, and **there is no field for your own affiliate code**. A publisher in Polymarket's
affiliate programme earns nothing from clicks on this widget. Polymarket's own embed builder has
that field.

## Markets & resolution

Only Polymarket's international markets, and only the ones PredictWidget's API ranks at the top.
On 30 September 2026 that was politics-heavy: the 2028 US presidential winner, the 2028 Democratic
nominee and a question on Putin leaving office. You get the categories the volume leaders happen to
be in that week. Nothing here resolves anything. According to the FAQ, a market that has ended
displays its final winning outcome.

The list view reduces each event to one "leader" and one number, and on a date-ladder event that
misleads. On 30 September 2026 the Putin event appeared as "June 30, 2027 — 10.5%". That is the
highest-priced rung of a set of by-date markets. It is not the event's answer, and a reader
skimming a sidebar will take it as one.

## Integrations

Plain HTML and a script tag. It works wherever a CMS allows third-party JavaScript. It does not
work in a newsletter, or on a platform like Substack that strips scripts; Substack has its own
native Polymarket embed, described on the [Polymarket Embeds](https://predictionmarkets.tools/tools/polymarket-embeds) card.

`api.predictwidget.com` answers unauthenticated requests. It is not offered as a product, has no
documentation and appears in the terms only as something that "rate limiting applies" to, so do
not build on it.

## Limitations

- **You cannot choose the market.** This is the limitation that decides the purchase. An article
about the Fed cannot embed the Fed market. It gets whatever leads on volume that day, which may
  be about something else entirely.
- **It does not refresh.** Both FAQs promise five-second updates, one in the words "update
  automatically every 5 seconds". The
script served on 30 September 2026 has no timer and no polling loop. It fetches once on page load.
The five seconds is the `max-age` the API sets on its responses.
- **"Other leading platforms" is not in the product.** The home page says the widget pulls "from
Polymarket and other leading platforms". The code and both endpoints are Polymarket only.
- **An outbound link you did not write.** Every widget adds a "PREDICTWIDGET • LIVE ODDS" link to
predictwidget.com, opened in a new tab with no `rel` attribute. The terms forbid you to "remove
or obscure copyright notices or attribution", so the link stays.
- **An anonymous operator.** No company, person or address appears anywhere on the site. The terms
let the operator "modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice". If the
domain lapses, the empty box is on your page.
- **Signs of a quiet product.** The terms and privacy policy are both dated 18 December 2025, the
script is versioned `2025121604`, and the footer reads © 2025. The API was still returning
current markets on 30 September 2026, but nothing on the site has visibly changed since December.

## Alternatives

[Polymarket Embeds](https://predictionmarkets.tools/tools/polymarket-embeds) is Polymarket's own free builder. It embeds the
specific market you choose, with a chart, and it has a field for your affiliate code. To control
everything, build the widget on the [Polymarket Gamma API](https://predictionmarkets.tools/tools/polymarket-gamma-api) and
the [Polymarket CLOB API](https://predictionmarkets.tools/tools/polymarket-clob-api).

## FAQ

### Can I make PredictWidget show the market my article is about?

No. The script served on 30 September 2026 reads exactly five settings — mode, number of events, number of outcomes, an API URL and a cache-bust value — and none of them is a market. Featured mode shows the one event PredictWidget's API calls featured, and list mode shows its top events by 24-hour volume.

### Does PredictWidget really update every five seconds?

Not on your page. The widget fetches once when the page loads and never polls again, so a reader sees the odds as of arrival. The five seconds matches the cache lifetime PredictWidget's API sets on its responses, which is how fresh the data is when it is fetched.

### Does PredictWidget cover Kalshi or other venues?

Not in the code it serves. The home page says it pulls from Polymarket and other leading platforms, but every link the script builds points at polymarket.com and both API endpoints returned Polymarket events only on 30 September 2026. Its own terms describe the data as primarily Polymarket.

### Who runs PredictWidget?

The site does not say. The terms and privacy policy, both dated 18 December 2025, name no company, address or person, and give a contact form as the only way to reach the operator. The terms pick United States law and cap liability at $10.

## Background

- [What a trade actually costs on a prediction market](https://predictionmarkets.tools/guides/what-a-trade-actually-costs.md) — Venues publish trading fees in four incompatible units, so 3.00% on one can be cheaper than 1.75% on another. How to convert them, and what else takes a cut.
- [Where weather data comes from and what you may do with it](https://predictionmarkets.tools/guides/where-weather-data-comes-from.md) — Observations, model output and archives are three products with three licences. The forecast is the cheap half; a clean observation history is not.

- [Why the same contract costs two different prices on two venues](https://predictionmarkets.tools/guides/why-the-same-contract-costs-two-prices.md) — Two venues quoting one outcome are quoting two contracts. What the gap between the prices is made of - rules, fallbacks, fees, collateral, exits, eligibility.
