## What it is

A tax-report generator for one venue. Paste a Polygon address, a Polymarket profile URL or an
@username, and PolyTaxes reads that wallet's Polymarket history off the chain, classifies each
transaction and matches lots first in, first out. The output is a Form 8949 CSV, a Schedule D
summary, a detailed transaction list and a CSV formatted for TurboTax's upload step.

What it is for is the part generic crypto software handles badly: the mechanics of a
[conditional token](https://predictionmarkets.tools/glossary/conditional-token). The vendor's how-it-works page lists the
transaction types it decodes — order-book buys and sells, splits of USDC into a YES and NO pair,
merges of a pair back into USDC, payout redemptions after resolution, neg-risk conversions in
multi-outcome markets, ERC-1155 transfers, USDC deposits and withdrawals, and maker rebates and
rewards. On a split the USDC's basis is allocated across the two tokens; on a merge the dollar per
pair is compared with their combined basis; on resolution a redemption is detected and closed at
whatever the token paid.

Two further steps are specific to this product. Computed positions are checked against what the
vendor calls Polymarket's accounting snapshots, and those that match are marked Double-Verified in
the report. And a sell at a loss followed by a buy of the same outcome of the same market within
30 days is flagged with code W and the disallowed loss moved into the replacement lot — the
securities wash-sale mechanic, applied by default.

It also shows open positions at current value with unrealised gain or loss, which is the only
reason the portfolio flag is set; nobody should buy it as a tracker.

## Availability

Nothing is traded, deposited or custodied, and the service never asks for a key, a seed phrase, a
signature or a Polymarket login. Sign-in is an email account, which holds the preview and any paid
report. The privacy policy lists what is stored — email, submitted wallet addresses, generated
reports, and payment details held by Stripe — and names Supabase and Vercel as hosts. Paid reports
are kept permanently; deletion is by request.

The jurisdiction is set by the output rather than by a block. The terms name no restriction, no
age floor and no governing law, but every form the product produces is a US federal one, and the
site describes itself as a service for US users of Polymarket. A filer anywhere else gets a
correct lot-matched transaction list and forms their own authority does not use.

The operator is named only as PolyTaxes, described on the contact page as a small, independently
operated business. No legal entity, no country, no postal address and no date on the terms. It
states that it is not affiliated with Polymarket or with Intuit.

Checked against the terms of service, privacy policy and contact page on 30 September 2026.

## Pricing

The free preview needs a sign-in and no card, and runs the full scan: net gain or loss, trade
counts by year and by type, the active years detected, and several wallets merged. It releases
no form and no CSV.

The full report is 29 US dollars. The pricing page calls it a one-time payment per tax year, the
FAQ says the same and adds that access to the report is permanent. Two other pages read
differently, and a reader with a long history should notice both: the home page headline says 29
dollars "a year", which reads as a subscription, and the terms of service say the fee is per
wallet per tax year, which is a different price for anybody with more than one address. Payment
is by Stripe, and the terms say all sales are final with refunds at the vendor's discretion.

Every year since the Polymarket exchange contract was deployed on Polygon can be generated, so
catching up on several unfiled years is several purchases.

Prices read from the pricing page, FAQ and terms on 30 September 2026.

## Markets & resolution

Nothing here resolves anything. Which way a market went, and when, is Polymarket's, and PolyTaxes
reads the result as a redemption on chain. The pages describe a resolved position closing only
through that redemption, and say nothing about a token left unredeemed in a market that has
already resolved — a losing token nobody bothered to redeem is the usual case. Check how those
appear in the transaction list before assuming every resolved market has closed out in the report.

**The treatment is not the tool's to decide, and it does not pretend otherwise.** Its FAQ says
the IRS has published no Polymarket-specific classification, lists several treatments that
practitioners argue for, and says Form 8949 applies only when capital treatment does. Everything
the product produces is the capital-treatment package. It does not produce the paperwork for any
other treatment, so a filer who concludes the positions are something other than capital assets
gets a reconciled transaction record from it, and not a form. The same holds for the digital-asset
boxes G to L on the 2025 and later Form 8949, which the product fills: whether an outcome token
belongs there is part of the same unsettled question. That choice is the reader's and their
adviser's. The catalogue's guide to [who sends you a tax form](https://predictionmarkets.tools/guides/who-sends-you-a-tax-form)
covers what each venue itself issues, which for on-chain Polymarket is nothing.

## Limitations

**One venue, and one half of it.** Polymarket.com on Polygon only. No Kalshi, no PredictIt, no
[Polymarket US](https://predictionmarkets.tools/tools/polymarket-us) — the vendor says plainly that off-chain account activity
cannot be read from a wallet — and no other chain or exchange, so the rest of a crypto return has
to come from somewhere else and be combined by hand.

**The price is stated three ways.** Per tax year on the pricing page, per year on the home page,
per wallet per tax year in the terms. Until those agree, confirm before buying for more than one
address.

**Wash-sale flagging is on by default.** The vendor's own FAQ calls the rule's application to
prediction markets debated and describes flagging as the conservative choice. It moves disallowed
losses into later lots. The pages do not say whether it can be switched off, and a filer or
preparer who concludes it does not apply will need to undo it in the CSV.

**The USDC leg is not described.** Several practitioner guides treat the stablecoin itself as a
second reportable layer, separate from the gain or loss on the position. PolyTaxes lists USDC
deposits and withdrawals among the transactions it reads, but nothing on the site says whether
the report carries a separate line for the USDC. Ask, or check the transaction list.

**A tax-loss list is built into the product.** It scans open positions for unrealised losses that
could be sold against realised gains. That is a tax-planning suggestion resting on the capital
treatment the rest of the report assumes, not a view on any market, and it is only as sound as
that assumption.

**The export formats are described inconsistently.** The pricing page lists CSVs only; one FAQ
answer also mentions PDF reports. Treat a PDF as unconfirmed.

**Accuracy is disclaimed.** The terms describe the output as the vendor's interpretation of
on-chain data, provided as is, with no liability for penalties or underpayment. The reconciliation
against Polymarket's snapshots is the vendor's own check, and its method is not published.

## Alternatives

Nothing else in this catalogue produces tax forms from a Polymarket wallet. The nearest free
thing is [PredictFolio](https://predictionmarkets.tools/tools/predictfolio)'s beta yearly report of realised P&L and fees, as PDF
or CSV: a ledger, not a form, and with no published cost-basis method. What a filer can get
elsewhere is the record: [PolyWallet](https://predictionmarkets.tools/tools/polywallet) exports a wallet's trade history as CSV
on its paid tier, and [Polymarket Analytics](https://predictionmarkets.tools/tools/polymarket-analytics) and
[Predicts.guru](https://predictionmarkets.tools/tools/predicts-guru) show a wallet's positions and realised P&L for free, which is
a cross-check on this report rather than a replacement for it.

General crypto tax software reads a Polygon address too, but reading is not decoding. CoinLedger's
own Polygon import guide, read on 30 September 2026, says a contract it has no pre-built
integration for is imported as Uncategorized and treated by default as a non-taxable self-transfer;
Polymarket is not on its list of Polygon integrations, and its help centre returned no article for
the word. On a Polymarket wallet that default is the split, the merge and the redemption, which are
the transactions this product exists for.

## FAQ

### Does PolyTaxes cover Kalshi or Polymarket US?

No. It reads the Polygon blockchain, so it sees only the on-chain Polymarket.com exchange. The vendor's own article on the two Polymarkets says off-chain Polymarket US activity cannot be inferred from a wallet and should be kept as a separate record set. Kalshi is not mentioned anywhere on the site.

### Does PolyTaxes decide how my Polymarket positions are taxed?

No, and its FAQ says so — the IRS has published no Polymarket-specific classification and several treatments are argued. What it produces is the capital-treatment paperwork, Form 8949 and Schedule D, plus the transaction record. Whether that is the right form for your positions is your call and your adviser's.

### Do I have to connect a wallet or sign anything?

No. It takes a public Polygon address, a Polymarket profile URL or an @username, and reads public chain data. You do sign in with an email account, because the preview and any paid report are attached to that account.

### How much does it cost if I have several wallets or several years?

The pricing page says 29 USD per tax year, one-time. The terms of service say the fee is per wallet per tax year, while the FAQ says several wallets are deduplicated into one report. The two pages disagree; ask before paying for more than one wallet.

## Background

- [Who sends you a tax form, and who sends nothing](https://predictionmarkets.tools/guides/who-sends-you-a-tax-form.md) — Five cards claim tax reporting, three venues and two wallet tools, and the documents behind that flag differ. What each one's own writing says it issues.
- [Where a dashboard gets its data, and what it loses when that moves](https://predictionmarkets.tools/guides/where-a-dashboard-gets-its-data.md) — A venue API, an indexer or the chain itself. Which one a dashboard reads decides how far back its history goes and what vanishes when that source changes.

- [Why two dashboards show different volume for the same market](https://predictionmarkets.tools/guides/why-two-dashboards-disagree-on-volume.md) — Volume is several quantities under one name - contracts or dollars, one side or both, swaps or also mints and merges, and whose day. How to tell which.
